Information

Samsung opened the museum in 2004 when it built a new museum building in Hannam-dong, Seoul.
M1, a permanent museum of ancient art, displays more than 120 pieces carefully selected according to the themes of each floor from the fourth floor to the first floor. Goryeo celadon is on the fourth floor, Buncheong celadon and white porcelain on the third floor, ancient calligraphy on the second floor, and Buddhist art, metal crafts, and lacquerware on the first floor. Major works representing artists who are drawing attention from all over the world can be seen in the museum's outdoor decks, lobby, M2, black box, and ground gallery.

Gyeongbokgung Palace is the first royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty, built in 1395 after the founding of the Joseon Dynasty in 1392.
The name Gyeongbokgung Palace contains the meaning that ‘the new dynasty will enjoy great fortune and prosper,’ and it was here that Hunminjeongeum (Hangul) was created and promulgated by King Sejong the Great. Gyeongbokgung Palace was destroyed by fire during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, and was rebuilt in 1867, over 270 years later.
The central part of Gyeongbokgung Palace is the core space of the palace and was built symmetrically according to geometric order. Except for the center, the buildings are arranged asymmetrically, creating the beauty of change and unification. You can feel the essence of dignified and dignified royal culture at Gyeongbokgung Palace, the center of the capital Seoul and the premier palace of Joseon.

Changdeokgung Palace is a palace built in 1405 (5th year of King Taejong) as a secondary palace of the Joseon Dynasty.
After all the palaces were burned down during the Japanese invasions of Korea, King Seonjo began the restoration of Changdeokgung Palace, not Gyeongbokgung Palace, in the 40th year of King Seonjo's reign (1607), and the reconstruction of Changdeokgung Palace was completed in the second year of Gwanghaegun's reign (1610). Changdeokgung Palace is the palace where kings lived and conducted government affairs for the longest period of time among the palaces of Joseon, spanning a total of 258 years from the reign of Gwanghaegun in 1610 to the reconstruction of Gyeongbokgung Palace by Gojong in 1868. In addition, Changdeokgung Palace, which has the best preserved original form among the remaining palaces of Joseon, was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 for its outstanding harmonious arrangement with nature.
